Owned and operated by Roy A. Howard, Old School Builders is a detail oriented company established in 2003 that builds fine custom homes and does quality remodeling work in Leelanau County. As a general contractor, Roy thrives to make a challenging project work smoothly by taking all the necessary steps from start to finish. This includes surrounding himself with others on the job site who produce quality work and have great attention to detail. Building homes in the area for 16 years has allowed Roy to establish relationships with sub-contracting companies that work well with Old School.

Roy’s building career started at age 11 working for his dad as a mason tender. Working with his dad at such a young age taught him more than just how to start building a house from the ground up. Looking back, Roy realizes now that his dad, knowingly or not, was really shaping him for real world experiences. Those young years working alongside his dad taught him to produce quality work by giving maximum effort.

Old School Builders serves the Leelanau County and Traverse City area. We work with architects, designers, and all the necessary sub-contractors such as excavators, masons, roofers, electricians, mechanics, etc, to complete your project. Roy, his crew, and the people he works with aim to take the stress and confusion out of your project so you can relax watching your dream be built.
